EXPLORE
Dear Readers,
Welcome to the third issue of Arrival Magazine. We’re so glad you’re here!
With this issue we present Explore—a theme that represents the joy and curiosity we’ve been exercising in 2025. Explore is a state of being that we dedicate ourselves to every day. When we choose not to be mundane and avoid sticking to the status quo, we embody exploration in every new person we reach out to, every new work we read, and every new art piece we see. As we take our personal and collective growth into our hands, we explore the possibilities of how we can shape our futures when we decide to never stop believing in ourselves.
We’re a whole year removed from the first issue of Arrival, and laying the groundwork for this publication has certainly been a fulfilling journey. This go-round, we explored new creative approaches that vividly represented the original vision of this publication. Our exploration of identity has made us more passionate than ever, and we have begun to establish a nurturing and empowering writing community.
The pieces in this issue reflect our explorative sentiment both literally and figuratively. These writers and artists employ beautiful poetic and literary structures while commenting on the risks of relationships and navigating uncharted territory. Geo by Morgan Govier connects jealousy to the erosion of mountains in a grand emotional display. Picnic for Two by Madison McFarlen similarly personifies the land as a monstrous body in a short story that examines the fragility of relationships.
In this issue, you’ll find interviews from Nina Dunic, Jason Lapidus, and Teresa Wong, all of whom are experts in unorthodoxy. Their interviews offer insight on unconventional paths to artistry. Dunic and Lapidus are masters of the long game, while Wong is a second-generation Canadian who uses her graphic memoirs to understand her own life. We thank them very much for their wisdom and insight.
Finally, thank you to our fantastic team! This issue would not be a success without the effort and enthusiasm of everyone involved.
Thank you for being a part of this adventure. Here’s to what we’ll discover next!
Sincerely,
The Arrival Editorial Collective
