GROWTH
Dear Readers,
Welcome to our second issue: Growth. Whether you’re a returning reader or joining us for the first time, we’re so glad to have you here. We are thrilled to showcase the hard work of the writers and artists in this issue.
Over the course of creating this issue, we have grown in many ways. We’ve welcomed amazing new members to our team, and we’ve embraced exciting changes and initiatives. These include launching an open call for art submissions, keeping submissions open year-round through Submittable, and kicking off this issue with a virtual launch—something we will continue to do for future issues.
The theme of growth resonates throughout this issue. Many pieces explore growth in its various forms. Emma Russell-Trione’s Laundry Day speaks to new beginnings and opportunities for personal growth. A Letter to You by Haley Byers highlights emotional growth in relation to loss, while below zero by Marisa Jorgensen depicts growth and change through the seasons.
We’d like to thank our writing community at Humber for yet again offering us instrumental support in creating this issue amidst a busy semester. We’d also like to thank our interview subjects for this issue, Rowan McCandless and Matthew Morris. We truly appreciate all the wisdom and insights you imparted in your interviews.
Finally, thank you to everyone who brought forward their work for this issue. It was wonderful to see such a wide range of topics explored throughout the submissions.
Thank you for being part of our journey. Here’s to continued growth!
Sincerely,
The Arrival Editorial Collective
